Applications are invited for the substantive (10 PA) post of Consultant H&N Histopathologist to commence as soon as possible.
It is expected that the appointee will contribute to the delivery of a full range of Head and Neck pathology (including non-gynae cytology) and one of the other specialities e.g. Dermatopathology, Gastrointestinal pathology. This post will be based at the Queen’s Medical Centre Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Queen’s Medical Centre is the major trauma centre for the East Midlands and deals with complex head/neck surgical specimen referred from all over the region. The Histopathology department also provides a diagnostic service for Nottinghamshire. The appointee will join a team of two Head & Neck Pathologists (one of them undertakes Dermatopathology as well) and will deal with biopsies, resections and non –gynae cytopathology and help with weekly MDTs.
BMS staff contribute to specimen dissection within these specialities.
An opportunity will exist to undertake Category 2 work in the form of post mortem examinations for Her Majesty’s Coroner.
You should be in possession of the FRCPath (or equivalent), be registered and on the appropriate specialist register of the GMC, and have appropriate training in Head & Neck pathology.
If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT. They will also be required to have an appropriate level of training and experience in the specialty.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
